The Script tour 2026: what fans should actually expect
The Script back on the road for the first time since Mark Sheehan died in January 2023. Tour opened May 10 in Dublin. UK and European dates through summer, US legs after. If you've been waiting two years for a Script show, this is it. Bring tissues if "If You Could See Me Now" lands the way I think it will.
The lineup question
Danny O'Donoghue. Glen Power. Ben Sargeant. Ben Weaver on guitar since 2022. Mark's absence is the elephant in every venue. The band has been honest about it — Danny addressed it directly at the Dublin opener — and the set list reportedly leans heavier on songs Mark co-wrote rather than pretending he wasn't there.
This isn't a tribute tour. It's the band continuing, which is what Mark would have wanted, and what the family signed off on. If you go expecting the 2014 Script you'll feel the gap. If you go ready to hear the band become something different, you'll have a good night.
Tickets and the resale trap
UK and European tickets are mostly through Ticketmaster and AXS. US dates aren't fully on sale yet as I write this; Ticketmaster pre-sales hit before public sale and that's where the decent seats go.
Avoid StubHub for Script shows. The face-value ticket prices are reasonable (£40-90 for most UK dates) and resale markups are absurd. Set a Ticketmaster alert and pounce on the day-of-show release — labels often free up production-hold seats 4 hours before doors.
Gear for the show
If you're standing on the floor, a pair of high-fidelity concert earplugs ($20-30) preserves your hearing without making the music sound muffled. I bring them to every show. The Script aren't a punishingly loud band but two hours at sustained 100dB still does damage you'll notice at 50.
A 10,000 mAh portable phone charger is worth its weight at any arena show — by encore your phone is at 14% and the rideshare app needs to work.
For the merch table: their vinyl albums are quality pressings. The tour t-shirts at the venue are usually two-for-the-price-of-one if you wait until 30 minutes after the encore — sellers want to clear stock.
Listen before you go
If you've drifted from the band, queue up #3 and No Sound Without Silence. Those are the albums most of the set is built from. Add "If You Could See Me Now" — they always play it. Add "Hall of Fame" if will.i.am makes another guest appearance (he hasn't yet on this run, but the rumor floats every leg).
Stream it on whatever you have. If you want a proper home listen, a pair of Bluetooth bookshelf speakers for the kitchen makes the difference between phone-speaker streaming and actually hearing the production.
What I'd tell a first-time Script-show person
Arrive for the opener. Danny O'Donoghue is one of the better between-song talkers in pop-rock and the show flows better if you've absorbed the support set first. Skip the in-arena beer and the £6 water bottle — eat before, drink after.
Go for it. Two years is a long time between tours for a band you love.
