A simple bookkeeping setup, even a spreadsheet if the volume is low, tracks what's in and what's out. If the numbers overwhelm you, a bookkeeper for a few hours a month is worth considerably more than the tax penalties and overpayments it prevents.

Treating support as a nice-to-have rather than a practical necessity. People who have mentors — even informal ones — make fewer costly mistakes.
